Executive Committee

Career Guidance Chairperson:

Champion career guidance efforts and recruit coordinators for efforts.  Coordinate student programs by being the contact for local schools and agencies and arrange presentations.  Network with other technical societies' career guidance chairpersons to maximize resource base.  Maintain and disseminate information on available engineering scholarships.  Submit the Career Guidance Annual Report by May 1 to the Society.

Membership Committee:

Coordinate programs to increase membership and enhance the privilege of SWE membership as a networking organization.

Professional Development Committee:

This committee will provide opportunities for members to enhance their technical and managerial skills, network and gain visibility. Provide Career guidance for college level engineering students.

Additional Committees

Certificates of Merit:

Coordinate sending Certificate of Merit information to 60 high schools in our section to recognize and encourage women in engineering/science achievement. Coordinate sending SWE volunteers to present certificates at school assemblies at their request.

Industrial Support:

Coordinate fund raising programs to insure sufficient funds to achieve the Vision Statement. Arrange personal visits to large business decision makers with SWE member from host organization if possible. Activities are under the direction of the Treasurer.

Multi-Cultural Committee:

Incorporate activities that are cultural and diversity related into regular SWE events, to promote diversity awareness among SWE members.

Scholarship Committee:

Administer the local scholarship program for high school seniors.  Publicize and distribute application and select recipients.  Organize the annual scholarship dinner.

Annual Golf Tournament Chairperson:

Recruit committee and organize tournament.  Goal of tournament is to raise money for our local scholarship program.

Golf Tournament Committee:

Committee members are needed to publicize tournament, collect prizes, and organize everything from insurance for "hole-in-one" events to the menu for tournament day.

Annual Egg Drop Contest Chairperson:

Recruit subcommittee chairpersons (subcommittees = rules, prizes, facilities, publicity, school contacts). Determine strategy for year's contest and carry out plan.

Egg Drop Event Committee :

Sub-committee chairs and day-of-event volunteers are always welcome for this fun annual event.  Examples include judging, school contacts, and prizes.

Teacher-in-Service:

Participate in coordination of workshop to provide local elementary school teachers with activities and materials for discovery-based, hands-on exploration of science.

All positions come with information from past years - you won't have to re-invent the wheel!  We need someone to lead up these efforts, but plenty of people are willing to volunteer to help you out!
